Scholars Academy Tutoring is an educational institution that provides supplemental academic help to students of all ages in various locations. The main focus is Mathematics and English Language, although other subjects may be offered. Typically, assistance is available after school and on the weekends.

Scholars Academy Tutoring puts a lot of effort into ensuring that children become good scholars by teaching them the techniques of good penmanship, how to organize their work on a page so that it is presentable, reading skills to increase reading fluency, writing skills that follow rules of grammar and increase the amount that students would normally write, and exercises to promote good spelling.

In Mathematics, students are taught to master the basics and the concepts required for their grade.

What separates Scholars Academy Tutoring from other facilities is the great emphasis placed on guaranteeing students remember the concepts taught and the training that is provided to help scholars increase their focus and concentration.

For all subject areas scholars are taught the required high standard of knowledge and skills that are outlined in The Ontario Curriculum. The idea here is to lay a proper foundation and provide scholars with the necessary academic expectations that would make them successful in their university years.

The goal of Scholars Academy Tutoring is to work with a small group of committed scholars to help them achieve their full academic potential.  Priority is therefore given to those who are interested in staying for at least twelve months because it takes time to educate a child properly according to our standards.  We aim to help our scholars with penmanship and writing improvement, reading and spelling mastery, increasing their focus and concentration, self-concept development, memory training to retain concepts, Ontario curriculum-based materials, and the basic concepts that are required to ensure the child succeeds in future grades. There is limited enrolment for the hourly sessions because quality is important to us, so admittance is on a first registered basis. All other registrations will be placed on an ordered waiting list.

Hours of Operation

Instructional days and times vary at Academies. Check with the teacher for information. Instruction lasts for one hour per week for every subject that the scholar is registered in. Tutoring begins and ends at the times given so it is important that scholars arrive on time.

Instructional Costs

You must choose between these two options when making payments.

1.) The Discount Payment Option. This is the better deal. Priority is given to people who register by this method. To take advantage of the discount payment option you must make out a cheque with today’s date and write eight post-dated cheques for the next twelve months. If you do not have 12 cheques, you must pay by the regular payment option mentioned below and bring the cheques the next time you come to the Academy.

The cost of instruction is $80.00 a month for one subject for scholars in kindergarten to grade 8, and $100 a month for French, high school or other subjects, and mature scholars. When scholars in kindergarten to grade 8 register for both Math and English the cost is $155.00. For French, high school, other subjects or mature scholars the cost is $190.00.a month for two subjects.  Fees must be paid for the entire month at the beginning of the month. Teachers collect twelve cheques at a time because of administrative reasons. Cheques will be returned to parents if they give one month’s notice of their intention to withdraw from the programme. There is a processing fee of $10.00 for a request to withdraw a scholar after a cheque have been deposited at the bank. Make cheques payable to Scholars Academy Tutoring Inc. Date all post-dated cheques for the first of each month.

Cash payments are not accepted.

2.) The Regular Payment Option. This applies to those who wish to register for less than twelve months. The cost of instruction is $90.00 a month for one subject for scholars in kindergarten to grade 8, and $110.00 a month for French, high school subjects, mature students or other subjects.

Scholars are responsible for attending all classes because there is no refund for missed classes. They can arrange to do a make-up class at a convenient time once the teacher is available.  Make-up classes cannot be combined and used as a free month, and must be done during a month in which payment is made.

There is an administration fee of $10.00 for any cheque that has been returned by your bank. This must be paid before your child/children can continue at the Academy.

Code of Behaviour

Kindly remind your children to practise the socially appropriate behaviours that they are taught at the Academy.

Preparation

Scholars are to be prepared for classes by having their materials with them at all times. Scholars must purchase resource materials from Scholars Academy. The cost is $30.00 for Math, $30.00 for Language Arts, $35.00 for French and $55.00 for two subjects. Resource materials for each subject include a binder, one exercise book, one workbook, four sheet protectors, photocopies and lined paper as needed for every subject. Photocopied sheets and lined paper that are given must be placed in the sheet protectors.

Scholars must purchase exercise books and workbooks when the ones they are using are completed. They must keep all their exercise books and workbooks in their binder and come with these books at all times.

Please remind your child/children to be organized by completing their homework at least two days before they come to the Academy. As parents you can make a big difference in your child's education if you ensure that the homework is completed and the scholar is prepared for classes! Scholars must learn all definitions and formulas by rote as part of their homework.

Please note that the scholar's work based on The Ontario Curriculum, but we do not match what teachers do on a day to day basis. No calculators are required for scholars in grades K to 8. They have to practise their calculations!
